Happy new month, Sparks and Families!
As we step into November, I want to take a moment to reflect on just how much we have to celebrate. We closed out Quarter 1 and the month of October with joy, pride, and powerful growth across our school community. Not only did we recognize our Perfect and Excellent Attendance winners and honor our Students of the Month for demonstrating outstanding accountability, but we also saw strong academic accomplishments across classrooms.
Our Sparks dug into rigorous lessons, engaged in meaningful discussions, took on challenging writing tasks, strengthened their math thinking, and showed tremendous growth in their learning habits. The effort, persistence, and curiosity our students demonstrated each day was visible—and it paid off. Quarter 1 proved that our Sparks are scholars who can rise to every academic challenge placed before them.
Now, as we enter Quarter 2, I know the momentum does not stop here. Our Sparks have set the bar high—and I am confident that our engagement, our excellence, and our attendance will continue to rise even higher. This community continues to prove that we are capable of anything when we work together toward a shared vision.
November is a month rooted in gratitude and thanksgiving. As we kick things off, I want to share my deep appreciation for each of our Sparks and their families. Thank you for your partnership, your trust, your heart, and the many ways you enrich our school community each day. It is an honor to learn, grow, and lead alongside you.
Here’s to another month full of light, growth, and joy.

NOVEMBER VALUE OF THE MONTH: RESPECT
At Innovate, we believe respect means recognizing the value in yourself and others through your words, actions, and attitude. Respect builds trust, strengthens relationships, and creates a positive learning environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.
What Respect Looks Like:
Listening actively when others are speaking.
Using kind and professional language in class chats and discussions.
Taking care of your learning space and materials.
Honoring teachers’ directions and peers’ ideas, even when you disagree.
What Respect Sounds Like:
“I appreciate your perspective—here’s what I think.”
“Thank you for helping me understand that better.”
“I’ll wait my turn to share.”
“Let’s encourage each other to do our best.”
When we practice respect, we strengthen our community. We show others that we care, we value differences, and we are committed to making Innovate a place where everyone belongs and thrives.
Community Events and Activities
Clubs
We’re excited to kick off Quarter 2 Clubs starting November 3rd! Last week, the week of October 27th, students were introduced to all of our new club offerings and had the opportunity to complete their Club Interest Form to select their top choices.
Clubs and Homework Help are a required part of our enrichment and support program, ensuring every student has a chance to explore their interests, build community, and get the help they need. Attendance will be taken to make sure students are fully benefiting from these opportunities.
We can’t wait to see our students diving into new clubs, learning, creating, and having fun this quarter!
If your child participated in the LEGO/i-Brick Club last quarter, please coordinate with administration to return your LEGO kits so they can be redistributed for Quarter 2. You can email Mrs. Maxwell at caitlin.maxwell@kippdc.org to schedule your drop-off date and time at the Shaw campus.
Math Night!
We are so excited for our first family math night! The math team has been working together to plan a great night. Please see the flyer below and mark your calendars for November 13th at 4:00!
